Congratulations to Prof. Avi Besser on the acceptance of his article

Congratulations to Prof. Avi Besser, Head of the Department of Communication Disorders, on the acceptance of his article, "Longitudinal Associations of Past and Cumulative Terrorism Exposure with Community Violence Exposure Among Israeli Adolescents: Aggression and Severe Violence Commission as Moderators," for publication in the international journal International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.

The article was co-authored with Prof. Golan Shahar from the Department of Psychology at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and Prof. Christopher C. Henrich from the Department of Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The study was based on longitudinal data from 362 Israeli adolescents and examined how previous and cumulative exposure to terrorism and rocket attacks is associated with subsequent exposure to community violence. It also investigated whether early levels of aggression and involvement in severe violent behavior moderate these associations. The findings indicate that the relationship between terrorism exposure and later community violence exposure varies according to adolescents' levels of aggression and involvement in severe violence. The results underscore the importance of considering the combined effects of prolonged exposure to threat, aggression, and the social contexts in which adolescents live.
