Two new articles by Dr. Rachel Wertzberger from the Department of Social Work and Behavioral Sciences

The first article, published in a special issue of Religions, is titled:
“Therapeutic Literacies: Text, Body, and Emotion in the Jewish Spiritual Renewal.”
This article explores emotional and spiritual modes of learning in Jewish spiritual renewal groups, emphasizing the therapeutic and emotional experience of engaging with Jewish texts over traditional religious or intellectual study.

The second article, published in the Journal of Contemporary Religion, is titled:
“The Light within Me: Celebrating the Self through Jewish Holidays in Israeli Public School Education.”
Co-authored with Dr. Shiri Alfi-Nissan and Dr. Shlomo Guzman Carmeli from Bar-Ilan University, this article examines how popular psychology discourse enters Israeli public schools, analyzing the celebration of Jewish holidays and the adaptation of Zionist or religious content into psychological and therapeutic frameworks.
