New Publications by Dr. Chen Bram in Modern Jewish Studies
We are excited to announce two new articles by Dr. Chen Bram, as well as a special section she co-edited with German colleagues, in Modern Jewish Studies.
The first article explores Jewish immigrant–Arab-Palestinian Israeli relations in the city of Acre, focusing on Caucasus immigrants’ perceptions of local Arabs and how these shape both current interactions and historical memory.
The special section, “Jews of the Caucasus” (eds. Chen Bram, Tsypylma Darieva, Darja Klingenberg), is pioneering research on these communities and their post-migration experiences. Highlights include studies on Georgian Jewish and Christian immigrants in Germany and Chabad’s engagement with small Caucasus Jewish communities in Dagestan.
The opening article of the section examines migration patterns of Georgian, Mountain, and Russian-Ashkenazi Jews from the Caucasus, offering new insights for Jewish studies, sociology, and anthropology.
