A new study led by Dr. Ruth Meitlis of Jerusalem Multidisciplinary College, in collaboration with Bar-Ilan University and Ashkelon College, explored the impact of the October 7 attacks on Holocaust survivors.
The research found that survivors with post-traumatic symptoms experienced higher levels of anxiety and depression. Yet, surprisingly, all participants—survivors and non-survivors alike—reported similar levels of hope, daily activity, and community resilience.
As Dr. Meitlis said, “The resilience of Holocaust survivors is an inspiration, reminding us of the power of hope and staying connected—especially in times of crisis.”
