Last month, Dr. Katya Baider, senior lecturer in Medical Laboratory Sciences and Biotechnology at Jerusalem Multidisciplinary College, presented her research at the prestigious annual meeting of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) in Italy.
With over 5,500 international experts in attendance, the conference is Europe’s leading event in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. Dr. Baider’s research focuses on cellular dynamics in blood cancers, particularly multiple myeloma. Her findings reveal how myeloma cells disrupt immune cell metabolism, weakening the body’s natural anti-cancer response and accelerating disease progression.
These insights may pave the way for new therapies that significantly improve outcomes for patients with multiple myeloma.
