Dr. Danny Ze’evi, Head of the Biotechnology Department at the Jerusalem Multidisciplinary College, spoke with Yehudit Grisaro on FM103 about the world of genetics and how the field can be harnessed for technological innovation.
At the start of the conversation, Dr. Ze’evi noted that “the field of genetics is rapidly advancing. Over the past few years, highly significant technological capabilities have emerged, especially the ability to read DNA sequences very cheaply and at great speed.”
He added, “It is now possible to read the genetic sequence of every newborn, and I believe this will happen in the very near future. From the beginning, we will be able to know whether a person is predisposed to certain diseases or sensitivities—information that will simply accompany them in their medical file.”
