Dr. Guy Leshem

Senior lecturer and head of the Computer Science Department

Lt. Col. (Res.) Dr. Guy Leshem is a senior lecturer and head of the Computer Science Department at the Jerusalem Multidisciplinary Academic Center.

Dr. Leshem holds a bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Engineering at Ben-Gurion University, 2 master's degrees: Applied Physics and Computer Science from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the Hebrew University, a PhD in the Department of Statistics at the Hebrew University, and a postdoctoral position in Computer Science at the Frankel Institute at Ben-Gurion University. His research interests are in applied statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, secure communication protocols for distributed sensor networks (IoT), cybersecurity, and parallel algorithms.

Dr. Leshem led research in the field of cybersecurity within the framework of the Captain Consortium in collaboration with Vernit in 2011-2014, funded by the Ministry of Economy. Dr. Leshem served as Principal Investigator (PI): (1) in a multinational study with Israel-Taiwan Cooperation in 2013-15 in the field of developing new algorithms, (2) in a multinational study with Israel-Taiwan Cooperation in 2015-17 in the field of cybersecurity for IoT devices, and (3) and starting in 2025, a feasibility study in the field of natural language processing and anomaly detection, funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

From 2018 to 2022, Dr. Leshem participated in two studies: the first as a researcher at the Genesis Consortium in the field of satellites in the field of ""Predicting signal attenuation from a LEO satellite due to weather phenomena using machine learning algorithms"" funded by the Innovation Authority, and the second in a multinational study in the field of quantum mechanics and parallel computing ""Gaussian approximation for the electrical and optical response of crystalline materials"" with Prof. Baruch Rosenstein from the Department of Physical Optics at Chiao Thung University in Taiwan, and Prof. Tianxing Ma from the Department of Physics at Beijing Normal University.
